WATER CHP UPDATES

APRIL 2018

 

A refresher course was made among the community people in teaching proper water chlorination, sodis, rainwater collection and proper storage of drinking water. This was done to ensure sustainability of sources of safe water and to increase the knowledge of the community residents on the practice of water pruification.

APRIL - MAY 2018

 

A house to house monitoring was done during this exposure to see if the community residents are practicing safe water practices and to ensure that they have learned the proper way of sodis, rain water collection, and safe water practices. The community as a whole had a noted increase in households practicing proper chlorination   (chlorine granules) from 20% to 37% or 91 out of 245, 60% of households now practice safe water storage, and 35% practice rainwater collection.

APRIL 2018

 

Bantay Tubod Mission was done in order for protection of spring sources based on the WHO guidelines on Low Risk Water Sources through the renovation of ferrocement spring boxes. additional spring boxes was constructed in district 4 and district 6.

MAY-JUNE 2018

 

A creation of Barangay Ordinance was done for the assurance of the continuity of the project on water, with the adaptation of the ordinance a Water Core Group was also established and a manual on water sanitation was also created. The responsibility on the water sanitation program was promptly turned over during the disengagement n which the community now takes the lead in securing their safe source of drinking water. 

SWM CHP UPDATES

APRIL 2018

 

A Material Recovery Facility was creation inDistrict 6, with this also came the adaptation and passing of a Barangay Ordinance regarding SolidWaste Management. A regular schedule of garbage collection was also established with collaboration from the Municipal Engineering office for the use of a truck to collect the garbage every 15 and 30 of the month.

May 2018

 

With the help of the community leaders and residents a community composting pits for biodegradable waste for district 2 and 7, this was made in order to provide a supply of compost for the use of the residents in their farms and also to help address the problem in biodegradable wast wherein instead of burning and throwing it away it could be put to good use by the residents.

APRIL- MAY 2018

 

A house to house survey was made to check for the practice of waste segregation , composting and presence of compost pits among the households in Lawaan, it was found out that in April 2018 72% of the households waste segregation and in May 2018 82% practice waste segregation and composting. This was a marked increase in the practice of segregation and composting.

TOILET CHP UPDATES

APRIL  2018

 

A verbal agreement was done with the Municipal link of 4P's , in which a list of 4P's members who availed themselves was presented to the ML for to be able to monitor the compliance among 4P's members on making their own sanitary toilet.

APRIL-JUNE  2018

 

A monitoring of the recipient of cement type toilet bowls was also done to see their compliance in making their sanitary toilet facility, prior to the monitoring an alternative toilet design was made with the help of the Municipal Sanitary Inspector and a Foreman to aid in minimizing the cost of making an acceptable sanitary toilet for a community level. 55% of the recipient of the cement type toilet bowls made their own sanitary toilet which greatly improved the community's standing in the number of households with their own sanitary toilet. 

JUNE 2018

 

A manual on toilet sanitation was made and within a meeting was called among key members in the community and willing volunteers for the creation of the core group on toilet sanitation, a core group was then created in which the responsibility of the continuity of the program was turned over to them including the toilet sanitation manual which would serve as their guide in the proper use, installation, and sanitation of a sanitary toilet.

FAMILY PLANNING CHP UPDATES

APRIL 2018

 

A lecture on family planning supplements the existing knowledge the community people have on the practice of family planning and also to help promote the DOH program on planning a family among those living in the community. It was an aim to keep the residents informs on the latest trends of family planning.

APRIL-MAY 2018

 

A house to house monitoring on family planning was done to see the trend of the acceptance of family planning in the community, and as of June 2018, 55% of reproductive age couples practice family planning methods.  

PRENATAL CHP UPDATES

APRIL-JUNE 2018

 

Weekly Pre Natal Clinics in the barangay health station is being done. With the help of the community health nurse, the pregnant women of the community need not to travel to the Rural Health Unit for their Pre Natal visits but it could now be done n the barangay. This is also one way of updating the list and status of known and new pregnant women in the barangay and assure a healthy and normal delivery.

HYPERTENSION CHP UPDATES

APRIL-JUNE 2018

 

The weekly Zumba among hypertensives is now being done in key areas of differnet districts in the community. Young and Old are encourage to join especially those who are known hypertensive.

A weekly hypertensive clinic is being done in Lawaan to help monitor the known hypertensive among the barangays population. As of June 2018, 88% of the known hypertensives are compliant with their medications and that 94.4% of known hypertensives have their blood pressure checked at designated BP stations.

An Anti Smoking Campaign was done to inform the people of the ill effect of cigarette smoking especially its effects on a person blood pressure and general health in all.

COMMUNITY DISENGAGEMENT

Every journey has its beginning and has its end, it is not the length of the journey that matter but the life lessons one learns while on it. DAGHANG SALAMAT LAWAAN!
